Maybe it's the genre, or maybe it's just me, but I found this book to be just okay. I had a hard time getting into the story to last more than a chapter or two at each read. Homer is a word smith, no doubt, but the plot wasn't compelling enough to keep me engaged for more. I was thinking the story would get steamy at times, but it didn't. It was more of a heated PG-13 with a few F-bombs dropped here and there to make it seem more of an adult novel. Being his first book, I commend the effort. Perhaps his next offering will be longer, allowing more time for side plots and character development. For me, "You WILL Believe in Love" was a little too simple, like the one syllable character names, Pal, Gab, and Buck. I prefer more complexity in my stories and less predictability.Product details

This book is great. It's a quick read that brought a new perspective to my life. Nothing life changing, but the surprise ending makes you wonder... well, I can't really finish that sentence without being a spoiler, so you'll just have to see for yourself. I was impressed by Homer's ability to blend many "subcultures" together making it relatable to just about anyone. He even had something for the music folk, like me. ;)

Homer Starkeys first book is such a triumph! I was taken by the first page & couldn't put it down. Reminiscent of Larry McMurtry's early work, the characters are real & you want to know more & more as the pages turn with ease. Kudos on your 1st book Homer-I want more!
After reading this book I could not believe that this was Mr Starkey's first release. The writing itself is truly superb. It is easy to follow while showing Homer's complete command of the language. The writing rivals that of the true classics and I am more than positive that Homer Starkey's name will quickly excel up the ladder. I laughed, I cried, I was filled with anger, I rejoiced with gladness and I was filled with contempt. I experienced such a wide array of raw emotions that when it was over, I felt absolutely hung over. I am encouraging everyone I know to experience the same.

This story is masterfully written. Homer Starkey has created a cast of characters that the reader will see a piece of everyone they know themselves.
His story is witty and WILL make you chuckle, but he had also intertwined enough sadness that the tale has a bittersweet feeling throughout.
I did not know what to expect. It wasn't this. It is a gift to be able choose just the right words to carry the reader from obscurity to intimacy. I felt like I knew Pal and Gab personally and I already miss them. If all is right in the world, there will be more from Homer soon.
I was intrigued with this book from start to finish. It made me want connection with the characters and eventually myself. It kept me wanting to learn more about what was to come of Gab and Pal's lives and I was excited to see what was to become of them. I cried, laughed and felt and incredible feeling of peace for them as I read the book. Thank you Homer Starkey for making ME believe in love and MYSELF!
